Swin Flintshire is an Elite Swimming Performance Squad funded by a partnership between Flintshire CC, Swim Wales and the parents of swimmers. All parties contribute towards the modest running
costs of the squad.
We are also helped by generous sponsers such a Sam Morris from Develop-U, a Yorkshire based training company, see their website at www.develop-u.co.uk.
Swim Flintshire are coached by a level three first rate coach, Stewart Clamp, who has trained the likes of Tom Allen and Lucy Worrel.

Swansea meeting allows Swim Flintshire to prove its worth
Swim Flintshire excelled at the Welsh National Age and Youth Championships after entering their first ever relay team. Usually the preserve of the larger swimming clubs such as
Swansea and Cardiff but not this year as the Swim Flintshire boys won two gold and a silver medal on their debut. The only fly in the ointment was the defeat to Swansea in the 4 x 200m relay,
Swim Flintshire would have had a clean sweep but for the removal of Lewis Smith from the event for tactical reasons.
The 4x100m medley team of Lewis Smith, David Hughes, Calum Hughes & Aled Davies took gold in an impressive time of 4:00.77 beating the other teams by 4.5 secs. The second relay team of
Smith, Calum Hughes, Ciaran Andrews and Davies had a much closer race but still came out victors. Well done to all!!
Swim flintshire competed in 200 heats and finals ansd won 34 medals, nine gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze. In the 14-15 age group Amanda Kelly was victorious in the 1500mm free with bronzes in the 800m free and 100m back. Grace Petit pocketed a bronze in the 200m Fly.
Niamh Andrews won two golds and a silver in the 1500m, 800m and 400m free and Eliza Nash scored gold in the 100 fly, silver in the 200m fly and a bronze in the 200IM.
Issy Wild claimed silvers in the 100 & 200m Free, well in Issy!
Matty Thompson, the pocket rocket, displayed great determination to win gold in the 800m free and silver in the 100 fly. Ciaran Andrews added to his relay medals with a gold in the individual 800m Free.
Calum Hughes picked up a bronze in the 200 free and just missed out on medals in the 100 free, 50 free and 100 fly, he has vowed to banish those gremlins in Sheffileld, Charlotte Bryan was on good form and took 200 fly and came second in the 100 back and 400IM, added to two bronze medals in the 100 fly and 200 back.
In the 17 and over age group Lewis Smith looked every bit a potential Welsh Youth Squad Swimmer and won gold in the 100 back and 100 free, he also finsihed second in the 100 fly and 200 back.
Aled Davies coming back from illness took three silvers in the 100 free, 200IM and 50 Free, it should be noted that ever the team player Aled saved his best swims for the relay teams. A true champion in
the making.
All swimmers look forward to the next coming months starting with Sheffield, with the Celtic tri nations in the middle and the Welsh or UK Championships towards the end of July.
